I agree we need to know more about God and about his word to us if we want to know Him. I know I find it hard to learn these kinds of 'facts' from a sermon, where I more often learn concepts or have something specific speak to me. Sermons can refresh facts in my memory, but they have to be learned on my own or in a small group it seems.
